City of Elk Grove Sales Tax Reports
Currently, approximately 39% of the City of Elk Grove's General Fund (excluding Measure E) is derived from sales tax. Therefore, sales tax is a primary funding source for essential city services, such as Police, Community Enhancement, Animal Services, Youth Services, and support for programs like road maintenance, trash and recycling services, traffic congestion relief projects, and flood control. The tax rate within city limits is 8.75%. When purchases are made locally and sales tax is applied, the City of Elk Grove receives 1% (excluding Measure E) of the taxable sale.
AB 2854 Tax Revenue Sharing Agreement
Assembly Bill 2854 (AB 2854), Regulation 1808 in the Revenue and Taxation Code(RTC) section 7213, requires each California city and county to report to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), all agreements involving the direct or indirect payment, transfer, diversion, or rebate of Bradley-Burns Uniform Local Sales and Use Tax revenue.
Agreements must be reported to CDTFA annually, on or before April 30, with information from the immediately preceding fiscal year. Additionally, a local agency reporting an agreement to CDTFA must also publish the information on its website.
